Yes, probably so. Many people in our area are found to have low levels of vitamin D. And according to WebMD, a vitamin D deficiency has been linked to bone pain and muscle weakness and has been associated with increased risk of death from cardiovascular disease, cognitive impairment in older adults, severe asthma in children, cancer, and depression. Deficiency can occur for a number of reasons including not consuming enough foods that contain vitamin D, limited exposure to sunlight, not being able to absorb vitamin D adequately, and obesity.
