The fault is ours
By Lance Earl
This past Thursday I came to a harsh realization. I have been very wrong in many of my assumptions. I have blamed many of our problems on evil men like President Obama, Harry Reed and the like. I have lashed out at corruptible men like John McCain and John Boehner. Dianne Feinstein, John Kerry and Michael Bloomberg have also earned my condemnation and now I think that perhaps it was misplaced.
I have been blaming these people for our problems. It is true that they are orchestrating unconstitutional, tyrannical and misguided policy. They are the people who plot the destruction of this great nation… but it is not their fault. Evil exists, darkness exists, tyranny exists but you can’t blame a snake for being a snake.
The cause of our trouble and the blame for our trouble rests squarely on the shoulders of we, the people. We are responsible because we have chosen to remain ignorant about the issues. We are responsible because we choose to complain about the very things we do not understand. We are responsible because we enter the polls without the foggiest notion about the people we vote for. Then, we cast our votes based on name recognition or party affiliation. As long as this is true, evil dark men will continue to be placed in office where they will spin, behind closed doors, secret combinations that enrich and empower a few while enslaving the masses.
This past Thursday, I prowled the parking lots of Pocatello and spoke with everyone who was willing to speak with me. I briefly discussed the standoff between the Republican U.S. House and the Democratic Senate. Then I asked a simple question, “In light of the current trouble, would you rather see Obamacare fully enacted, or would you prefer the Affordable Health Care Act?” The answers might surprise you. Of those who responded 33.3 percent thought that the Affordable Health Care Act was far better than Obamacare. An additional 30.3 percent admitted that they knew that there were two options available but they did not now the differences. A few, 12.2 percent were all for Obamacare. Only 24.2 percent of those I spoke with looked at me like I was an idiot and said “those are two names for the exact same thing.”
Over 75 percent of those I spoke with have no idea what is going on. Yet, the 42.5 percent who chose one plan over another were willing to offer long detailed reasons why one was so much better than the other. They were willing to believe anything I told them because??? These same people will go to the polls. They will call on their vast knowledge to cast votes that affect the lives of you and me. This simple fact will render the votes of the remaining 25 percent useless. The vote of the ignorant will cancel out and overwhelm the vote of the informed. This, and this alone, will be the means by which darkness and evil will continue their diabolical work in legislative chambers and executive offices.
I am not writing this to attack, but rather to enlighten. My hope is that some among you will recognize that you are among the lower 75 percent. My hope is that this will compel you to rise, to matter, to make a difference for good in our neighborhoods and our nation. My hope is that some of you will contact me and ask, how can I begin?
There are a number of organizations in Pocatello that fight for liberty and truth every day. Oftentimes, their members feel like they fight alone. Truly, they are patriots. Truly, they need your help. I encourage all of you to attend a meeting of these groups as my guest.
On Oct. 19, right here in Pocatello, will be the East Idaho Liberty Expo. The day has been packed with non-stop educational opportunities. Panels have been formed, consisting of persons on both sides of a variety of hot issues. These include gun rights, Common Core, civil rights vs. the growing police state, liberty and religion, and liberty and the millennial generation.
Ben Swann will be the keynote speaker. Ben is a hard hitting journalist who is the recipient of multiple awards. In 2012, he became the first journalist to confront President Obama about the constitutionality of his “kill list.” Ben will also conduct a special session just for the youth.
Please contact me for tickets. General admission is $50 (includes lunch); students, $25 (includes lunch); student groups and adults who accompany them, $10 (no lunch). I extend a special invitation to every government class in the area. Come, allow your class to see the beauty of liberty in action.
Freedom or bondage. The line has been drawn. On one side are patriots, heroes. On the other side is the lower 75 percent. Where will you stand?
